REVIEW: Oscar de la Renta Fall 2010

Posted By FashionistaJR ~ Feb 17, 2010 4:55PM

Oscar de la Renta's collection didn't cease to be one of the best I have seen thus far at New York Fashion Week.

His collection was not only sophisticated, it held variety.  He wasn't afraid to use lively colors for fall and each piece held its own message.  There was plenty of texture as well as glamour.

Something that I rarely see when looking over collections is a lot of creativity.  When you look at Oscar's collection, you see that such thought was put into it.

I adored the prints that were used for this.  The prints that were used ranged from chic to simple, night on the town to a stroll outside; some were dark, some were light; some were complex patterns while others were just a simple, but rich, color.

Two other things I noticed were 1. He had a couple of models smile; 2. One model appeared to be plus size;  I have seen this at a couple of other shows as well and I think that it truly brought more attention to his clothes.  It made them seem more real as well as add even more "spark."

If you will also notice, Oscar used some unique material for his clothes.  With each collection he brings out some new material, always different than what he used last season.

I think overall this collection has proven to have what every collection should: color, texture, creativity, glamour, class, and brilliance.

I would also like to note the hair and makeup.  I felt that it perfectly represented what the feel of the collection was going for.  The use of 80's style hair was definitely a good choice on OdlR's part.

As always, a lovely collection.  The clothes as well as the show were well thought out.  With that being said,  I cannot wait to see what Oscar has in store for us next season!
